If you shorten the amount of time the pirate have to react, they just bring bigger/faster guns.
this will be whined about in the future, and probably another change will be made to make the travellers safer - but its just going to make things more dangerous as pirates will again find a way to be even more effective.
Its a bad road to travel down.
Low sec generally isn't pirated by large gate camps - that's something seen in 0.0.
Low sec generally has the loser with his first new battleship, hanging over 100km off of a gate, waiting to snipe at anything that goes by that doesn't look like it could shoot back at him. He doesn't even recover the loot, because he's that much of a coward. Warp to zero will make his life miserable.
Don't make me laugh with these ubertactics.

Haven't seen any different. And I make money every day buying and selling between low and high sec.

And I've seen and/or heard of even bigger camps along the inter-Empire routes!
I've seen the campers (the lone gankers I've been talking about) at Aunenen.
Lots of traffic through there - lucrative trade - and only idiots sitting off the gate.
